abcdepañol (AbcdSpanish): the game of reading and writing
Combines collective discovery with individual exercises. The game teaches reading and writing in a friendly, efficient and fast manner. In addition, the game also promotes social interaction, thus encouraging values like tolerance, collaboration and solidarity.
Self-learning is stimulated. The game is based and focuses on achieving real results regarding the four pillars of education: Learn to do, learn to learn, learn to share and learn to be.
Of easy replicability, the game allows the community to participate in literacy efforts. Its effective application in several countries has motivated international organisms to provide financial assistance. With the help of the international community, more than ten countries have been able to expand their literacy projects.
Its epistemological, linguistic, didactic and pragmatic structure facilitated its translation to the four majoritarian indigenous languages in Guatemala; and at present new adaptations are in progress.
Promotes a dynamic use of time and space. The game abcdepañol can be used in places electricity has not reached yet. Can be used with diverse populations. In groups where various rhythms of learning are present and where multiple intelligences coexist.
Today, this methodology is multiplied within the strategy: “alfabetizacion a dos puntas” (literacy at two ends); since there are both, game designs for adults and for children.
